EPISODE #2 Session with the Secours Aérien Français (SAF - helicopter first aid)
A ski resort means wonderful skiing for visitors and also a lot of work beforehand to make sure everyone can ski safely...
To guarantee the best support for skiers, Les Karellis took part in a session with the SAF about organising helicopter rescue and first aid.
The ski patrol team, led by Guy, coordinates its rescue resources with the SAF to ensure maximum efficiency for helicopter rescue operations.
"The SAF team of a pilot, doctor and a mountain guide, reminded us of safety instructions:
- Essential information to provide by radio
- How to get victims onboard the helicopter
- Check-list of victims in the case of an avalanche
This operation also meant we could show the SAF team the DZ (drop zone) which has been levelled and extended, and also the approach zone. "
Les Karellis ski patrol listened carefully to the SAF team and familiarised themselves with the helicopter, ensuring visitors the maximum safety and security possible!
